Speaking assignment

Senior 2! VERY IMPORTANT! READ THIS THROUGH!

I hope you had a good trip on your retirement days. Those of you who did NOT choose a book from the lending library:

Since we don’t have time  for all of you present your oral assignment, I am going to ask you to do it on video. It is very simple.

You have to record yourselves giving the presentation  with your phone videocamera, or one of your friends’ phones if yours does not have a camera. The video should not be longer than 5 minutes.

Upload it to YouTube or  Vimeo.

Here is a tutorial on how to upload a video  in case you need help.

In the privacy settings, remember to set it as Public or Private but not Unlisted or I won’t be able to see it. For the tags, write “Speaking Skills”, “Senior 2″, ” Las Cumbres 2013″.

Email the link to your presentation to msaenz@lascumbres.edu.ar for Thursday 28/11 at the latest.

This coming week is our last week to do it.

Those of you who DID choose a book from the lending library: I will be listening to you this Wednesday!

Classwork 30/10

Good afternoon once more, S2!

Today, you will be choosing an article from the BBC Words in the News website.

Your instructions are:

1. Choose an article that appeals to your interest from the list “News stories” and read it carefully (15 minutes). Be careful NOT to choose from the list titles Video Stories.

2. Summarise the article. You may use a word document or do it on paper. REMEMBER the guidelines for writing a  Summary.

3. Conduct a google search to look for related articles and expand your information on the subject.

At this point, you will post as a comment underneath, the article that you choose and a link to at least one related article.

Develop an opinion on the topic. Remember that, by this time, giving an opinion is not just saying: “I think this is good/bad”. To provide an opinion that others want to listen to, you must suppport it. Provide evidence, explain your reasons, use rhetorical questions.

4. Write an opinion essay related to the article. You will send this essay by mail to msaenz@lascumbres.edu.ar before Friday 08/11.

S2 Classwork 25/10

Good afternoon, s2!

Today you will go to the BBC Bitesize English webpage.

1. Under the heading “Topics”, you will click on the link “Writing”.

2. On the new list that you will see,  the last option, which says ” Writing to argue”, offers two options: Revise, and Test. Click on Revise and follow the notes.

3. Finally, you must answer the 10 multiple choice questions on the Test.

4. Once you have finished, click on Check Score. Press the Print Screen button on your computers and paste the snapshot on a word document.

5. Finally, attach the word document to an email you will send to msaenz@lascumbres.edu.ar and I will upload them here on the blog as a ppt.

Bonus Question

You will be able to answer it only after you went through the notes on the Revision site. The bonus question should be answered as a comment below this entry. The first correct answer earns group points!!
